As a vegetarian I already love beans, but have felt intimidated about growing them / drying them. This has inspired me though⦠Maybe this is the year!
You should try some! I think that Dragons Tongue is the best one to start with, but maybe I'm just biased because it's the one that changed my mind about growing beans. :)
Just wanted to say Iβm loving this newsletter! Super inspiring as I prep for my first year of raised bed vegetable gardening. Just got my bare root fruit trees in today!
Thank you! I really appreciate hearing this :) Congrats on your fruit trees -- I am on a mission to find where on our property we could have some; I am so jealous!
Broad Windsor report from Colorado: big flop. I started them indoors in spring, it gets hot too fast here even keeping them in the shade so they got some kind of black fungus and shrivelled and died. I started them again in fall thinking I could keep them outside until it got too cold and then move them into my garage with grow lights; it mightβve been the wrong kind of grow light, but they just sort of existed without growing anymore once they were under it, so I gave up. Womp womp.
What a bummer!! I just put mine out a few days ago so I will report back. I decided to direct sow them since they are frost tolerant, and I am hoping that they'll get a chance to pod before our first heat wave.
